Helpful tips for great beach portraits:

  • Early or late, the hours just after
    dawn and just before dusk
    provide the best lighting
    on the beach.
  •   Dress casual, khakis, jeans,
    whites, light tones, pastels, blues
    and browns all
    photograph great on the sand.
  • Subtle, subdued solids are best
    for portraits, as opposed to busy
    patterns which tend to overwhelm
    the picture.  
  • Relax and have fun.  Especially
    with kids, sometimes it's best
    to go with the flow.  Kids will
    always be more cooperative
    if you're just spending a day of fun
    at the beach.   
  • Book early (and often)
    Unfortunately if you wait til
    you're in town, your date may not
    be available.  Also, booking earlier
    in the week will ensure a make-up
    date for inclement weather.
